Mobile Casino Apps

There is a lot to love when it comes to mobile casino apps. The freedom it gives you to play your favorite game anywhere in the state, bonuses and promotions exclusive to mobile devices, the high tech graphics and software that go into making sure each game fits perfectly on your screen. A mobile platform is just as important as the desktop version and Pennsylvania casinos know this, which is why players in the state already have four casino apps they can choose from.

While most of the time the mobile app will not hold as many games as the desktop casino platform does, players will find the same account management features including access to their online account, deposit and withdrawal options, and responsible gaming. Players in PA can still claim all the same bonuses as seen on the desktop through the app and can be assured the mobile casinos are thoroughly tested by the PGCB, from banking to the fairness of the games, in order to ensure security and safety for Pennsylvanians.

Geolocation App

The only way anyone over the age of 21 will be able to access an online casino in the Keystone State is to be within the borders of Pennsylvania. All of the casinos launching use geolocation software to be able to detect and verify if the player is in the state if there is any doubt, the player will not be granted access to the casino online.

Geolocation technology tracks a person's IP address and WiFi signal to pinpoint exactly where they are located. You can still play games in demo mode and have access to most account management features if you aren't in the state but will lose the ability to play for real money.

If you're close to the state borders and using your 4G you could still experience some problems in which case we recommend downloading geolocation software, and anyone on WiFi should have little to no problems. Apart from keeping a strong WiFi signal while you play on the PA casino app, here are a few other steps you can take to make things easier when it comes to detecting your location:

  • Try not to use public WiFi hotspots or public connections.
  • Run the plug-in!
  • Speak to your internet service provider.

PA Online Casino Apps

Since July 2019, Pennsylvania has seen four casinos launch an online platform and with each came a mobile app. Most online casinos earn the majority of revenue through its mobile players which makes perfect sense in today's day and age and looking at how attached people have become to their phones. This means mobile platforms might be even more important than desktop and could be the deciding factor on if a casino soars or sinks. Let's take a look at how each PA casino compares when it comes to the mobile gaming experience.

Hollywood Casino

Hollywood Casino was the first to go online in Pennsylvania, launching a platform powered by IGT and help from NetEnt. Hollywood provides players in the state with a mobile app compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Players using their Android phone can head over to the Hollywood Online Casino site where they will see a link to download the app and iOS users can find it in the App Store.

Hollywood Casino's mobile app is probably one of the best in the PA market right now, offering players more than 60 slot games to choose from including Divine Fortune, Cleopatra, Wolf Run and Da Vinci Diamonds. The app also features popular casino table games like blackjack, roulette varieties, and baccarat, as well as different versions of video poker by Game King.

On top of all these games, players on the Hollywood mobile casino will also have access to the following features:

  • Guides to games.
  • Fullscreen gaming experience.
  • Filters to make finding your favorite game easier.
  • Live feeds showcasing jackpots and results from recent games.

Parx Casino

Parx Casino launched online shortly after Hollywood with a mobile app we might have to rank in the third spot. The good news is that it's available to both iOS and Android users at the Google and Apple Store and reviews seem to rank the app quite high. Unfortunately, the game library is the smallest out of the three PA casino apps and offers the basics like a selection of slots, casino games blackjack and roulette, and Game King video poker. Part of the features on the app include the Xclub rewards integration, free daily bonuses for playing, and a leaderboard.

Some popular slots that made it on the Parx Casino app include:

  • Triple Diamond
  • Miss Red
  • Pacific Paradise
  • Bubble Craze
  • Wolf Rising
  • Natural Powers

SugarHouse Casino PA

SugarHouse had an advantage at the time of its online casino launch by getting around the Apple restrictions on gambling apps and downloading a GeoComply software. In July when the casino launched, anyone in Pennsylvania who owned an iPhone could download the GeoComply app to gain access to the SugarHouse casino app and play for real money, which was something Hollywood and Parx did not have.

The app is very similar to the SugarHouse casino desktop platform and includes features like banking options, demo mode games, bonus and promotional offers, customer support and more. The game library is the biggest for mobile apps in PA right now with a lot of popular slot titles and has also integrated its sportsbook with the app.

PokerStars Online Casino

PokerStars has teamed up with PA casino, Mount Airy, to launch an online platform as of November. Seeing as they are the new kids on the block, it's pretty impressive that they launched with an app compatible with iOS and Android users. The PokerStars PA app is very user-friendly and players can participate in daily tournaments and real money games, including online poker (finally)! The app features a cashier for depositing, betting bars, poker tournaments, leaderboards, and all your favorite casino table games.

Mobile Casino Games

Not all of the same games on the casino desktop site will be found on the mobile platform, but the PA casinos have done a very good job of keeping each game library updated. The following are all the games you can expect to see on a PA mobile app now, or in the near future.

Mobile Slots

Every PA casino so far at launch has had slots available on the mobile app and is actually the game that makes up the majority of any casino library. Slots are great to be played on mobile devices for a number of reasons; visually stimulating, easy controls, and fit the screen perfectly. The speed of the game is tailored for your phone, and you'll be able to find every slot type imaginable from jackpot to traditional, or titles based on TV and history.

Expect to see these titles available at PA mobile casinos:

  • Cleopatra
  • Raging Rhino
  • Gonzo's Quest
  • Steam Tower

Mobile Table Games

While most casino games are good to be played from mobile, some are better saved for the desktop.

Since blackjack does not take up much screen room, its a game that can be easily enjoyed from an app. Gameplay and graphics are clear to see and user-friendly, and while the selection might not be huge, players will still find a small variety of blackjack available on mobile casinos.

Roulette is pretty much the opposite of blackjack and is slightly awkward to play on mobile due to the large wheel and lots of gameplay action. While PA mobile apps all seem to offer at least one Roulette game, maybe try an iPad for this one.

Craps doesn't seem to be a very popular game which makes it a little more difficult to find on mobile apps in Pennsylvania. Since the layout is so large and the dice so small, we recommend sticking to the desktop version for these games.

Mobile Video Poker

Compared to slots, video poker games aren't as graphically pleasing, however, fit perfectly on mobile screens and all the classics like Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild can be found on the PA casino apps. While game libraries may be limited, you should always be able to find at least a few video poker options.
